PBB, Yuenthai, PEZA, MEPZ, and MEPZCEM officials pose with Yuenthai Vaccinees

Through the Project Balik Buhay (PBB) - Yuenthai Vaccination Super Center, an average of 600 vaccines per day will be administered to workers in the Mactan Economic Processing Zone (MEPZ) in August and September 2021. Yuenthai employees will be given priority, followed by other workers from other companies in the zone, including Sintex.

Yuenthai Philippines is the first Vaccination Site in the MEPZ. It officially opened on August 16, 2021, in partnership with PBB and close cooperation with the Lapu-Lapu City LGU, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers (MEPZCEM), and other companies in the zone.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan, Atty. Abdullah Adel-Khan Alug of PEZA and Ms. Katherine Cheng, Senior Vice President of Yuenthai Philippines, and Ms. Frances Alfafara of PBB formally opened the vaccination site. The officials personally vaccinated two Yuenthai employees.

Both Mayor Chan and Ms. Alfafara expressed appreciation to Yuenthai Philippines for accepting the challenge and opportunity to vaccinate more and more Cebuanos in the economic zone.

"Thank you to Yuenthai for opening up the Vaccination site, the very first in MEPZ to be able to vaccinate more and more Cebuanos to heal together so that we can be vax2normal. This goal that we all share and the goal to restore our livelihood," she said.

According to Mayor Chan, the partnership is instrumental in helping Lapu-Lapu City reach its goal of a 70% vaccination rate by November.

The inoculation program was formed as a public-private partnership with PBB established to deploy vaccinations in Cebu and Visayas. The PBB Vaccination Initiative is part of the National Government Vaccination Program for the companies, micro-establishments, and people's organizations in the identified Metro Cebu LGUs. The PBB Vaccination Centers are managed and operated by Private Sector groups and volunteers, with all costs incurred being shouldered by Private Donors and Benefactors, at no cost to the Government nor the vaccinees.

Ms. Katherine Cheng, Senior Vice President of Yuenthai, expressed gratitude to PBB, MEPZ, PEZA, and other partner agencies for selecting Yuenthai as a preferred vax site.

"In the time where we hear more and increasing stories of death, of serious illness and of hardship plus the threat of the new variant, we could not be any happier that finally the FIRST VACCINATION SITE in MEPZ is now a reality and now open. Together let us fight COVID-19 through Vaccination!" she said.

The opening of the Vax site complements Luenthai's Vax2Normal Immunization program, which aims to bring vaccines closer to the employees of Yuenthai and promote SAFE, EFFECTIVE, and FREE vaccines for all.
