Workers in China have begun returning to work after an extended Lunar New Year holiday in the wake of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.
GJM, Tomwell, Tien-Hu, D’Luxe, and DanDong SLT have resumed operations following stringent preparations to ensure the safety of all employees. Virus-proofing the facilities where thousands of employees work and live is no easy feat, but the business units were up to task. To date, all facilities are free from COVID-19.
Prior to resumption of work, all the factories were disinfected and cleaned. Communications were released via various channels and media to promote cleanliness, personal hygiene, and proper use of masks.
Business units have begun implementing a wide range of health and safety measures including:
Provision and stocking up of masks for all employees;
Monitoring of body temperature at least twice a day;
Regular cleaning and disinfection of work areas;
Employees were encouraged to bring their own food and utensils; others were served with packed meals to be eaten alone; others will install table dividers to discourage close contact with other employees;
Health and hygiene promotion
CEO-Partner Raymond Tan sent a special message to all the returning employees. In a letter sent via email, Raymond sent greetings and words of encourage “to the thousands of our employees in China for what they have to go through since the beginning of the year.” He acknowledged the difficulties of those who have returned and also for those who are still in lockdown in Hubei and Wuhan under the constant threat of the virus spread. He also told them that they are not alone.
Raymond assured the employees, “Despite this challenge, we will still be moving ‘forward together’ with our ‘XO culture.’ We belong to a very resilient organization and nothing will bring us down…. No one can predict how this year will turn out, the only prediction I can give you is that we will become a stronger organization and come out from this storm ‘TOGETHER.’”
