Highlights of the 2nd Ralph Lauren Strategic Supplier Summit

(November 9, 2018) – The 2nd Ralph Lauren Strategic Supplier Summit in Clark concluded on Friday, November 9.


Following is a summary of the key events that took place during the two-day Summit:


Day 1 (November 8)


Ralph Lauren’s Craig Dana welcomed the delegates and emphasized to all that the Summit is an opportunity for suppliers and RL to interact and discuss opportunities and learn from each other in overcoming challenges in the business.

Raymond Tan talked about Luenthai's journey to becoming an eXtraOrdinary company and his desire to achieve sustainable shared success through reinvention. He also emphasized the importance of passion and transparency.

Frank Sauceda spoke about Luenthai's experience in the Philippines, the company's ability to evolve and to keep up with customers and changing business environment. He also talked about importance of partnership with various stakeholders.

The Luenthai presentations were followed by a lively and spirited question and answer segment focusing on technology, employee retention, and attracting millennial workers, among others.

In the afternoon, everyone headed to Clark facility to experience three touch points highlighting Ralph Lauren's pillars and interests: Sustainability, Innovation, Quality and Lean. The delegates eagerly listened and participated in discussions in the stations.


The day ended with dinner and a program at Tuloy Bahay Bata (Tuloy) also in Pampanga. Guests were treated to a football demonstration as well as song and ballet performances by the children of Tuloy.


Messages were delivered by Bases Conversion Development Authority President and CEO Vince Dizon who presented development plans of Clark; Tuloy Founder Fr. Rocky Evangelista, SDB who proudly introduced the eXtraOrdinary kids of Tuloy and extended the Foundation’s gratitude for the support of Luenthai; and Raymond Tan who shared his eXtraOrdinary journey in Tuloy and touched on his hope that XO Kids will become a global effort.


Day 2 (November 9)


The delegates visited Luenthai’s Accessories Division in Tarlac and toured the assembly, cutting, and leather stations in the facility. They were welcomed by Sunny Tan who gave a brief introduction on the company before the participants were again divided into groups led by Rod Henderson, Frank Sauceda, and Raymond Tan.


Luenthai presented to the delegates its new coffee table book, Sustainability Strategy and Goals and distributed copies to Ralph Lauren representatives and the suppliers.


Halide Alagoz, Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain & Sustainability Officer, reported the financial results for the second quarter and gave an update on the status of what they had delivered based on their strategic initiatives –


· Win over a new generation of consumers

· Energize core products and accelerate underdeveloped categories

· Drive targeted expansion in their regions and channels

· Lead with digital

· Operate with discipline to fuel growth


Building on the previous summit’s breakout session, participants looked at Ralph Lauren’s pillars of lean and quality, innovation, and sustainability through the lens of the manufacturing environment. Here, they discussed the best practices they observed in the two factory visits, what Ralph Lauren can leverage on, and practices to consider. Among the common inputs were on digitalization and automation. There were also talks on setting targets for saving water and paper in the next Summit.


The delegates shared experiences, ideas, and recommendations on acquisition, expansion, and measures that can be taken as a response to the 25% tariff on imports from China.


The Summit wrapped up with a group photo and goodbyes with the promise to see each other next Summit back in New York.

第2日:(11月9日)

代表们参观了联泰位于Tarlac的包袋配饰部门,参观了工厂的生产、切割和皮革车间。陈祖恒先生向与会者表示欢迎并向大家对工厂进行了简要的介绍,参与者分成三组,分别在Rod Henderson、Frank Sauceda和Raymond的带领下进行参观。


联泰还向代表们介绍了新出版的图册《可持续性发展战略和目标》,并赠送给RL的代表和供应商。


执行副总裁兼首席供应链和可持续性发展执行官Halide Alagoz做了第二季度的财务报告,根据其战略举措,提供了所取得的成果的最新信息:


——赢得了年轻一代的消费群体

——加强了核心产品并加快了待开发产品的进度

——推进目标市场和销售渠道的扩大

——带动数字化管理

——降低生产过程中能源的消耗


在上届会议突破性议题的基础上,与会者从制造业环境的角度,审视了RL的精益和质量、创新和可持续性的核心。会上,大家讨论了两次在工厂访问中观察到的最佳操作实务、R L可以从中获得的启发和思考。其中,最常见的投入是管理的数字化和自动化。大家确定了下届会议的主题为节约用水和用纸。


代表们分享在收购、扩张方面的经验、想法和建议,以及应对向中国征收25%的进口关税可采取的措施。


大会结束,全体人员合影留恋。大家相互告别,并期待明年纽约召开的下一届会议时再见。
